A Letter From The Buddies Unlimited Doctor

thedr.jpg (16313 bytes)Dear Friend,

You may wonder why I have chosen to dedicate myself to Buddies Unlimited. I’d like to tell you that my commitment is genuine and related to the fact that I too struggle with my weight. An eating problem is no different than a drug problem – there are cravings, withdrawals, and unforeseen physical threats that are dangerous to our body and our relationships. There are unique predisposing, enabling, and reinforcing factors that contribute to your use of food for more than what it is, simple nutritional fuel for your body. We’ll explore those factors together.

Being unhealthy or overweight prevents us from participating in an active lifestyle. In my experience, "active" means walking instead of watching TV, hiking instead of eating out, and joining in group activities instead of sitting home alone. I’ve tried many commercial programs and I’ve lost and gained and yo-yoed most of my life. But I’ve finally found the answer. Lifestyle change is the only hope – no fads, no pills, no diets. By creating a new – active – lifestyle, less focused on food, you will have more energy, self-awareness, and enrichment in your relationships.

At Buddies Unlimited, we are dedicated to you. We are a part of your team, helping you to strive toward reasonable goals. Using my years of medical training, teaching, and clinical practice, I’ll review your eating & activity habits and call you to give you advice on better choices. We’ll identify factors that impede your success and talk about how simply changing one small behavior at a time can create satisfying, healthy results. One of our Coaches will be by your side, keeping you focused, for as long as you want.

Good Luck, Be Happy, Be Active,
Dr. Catherine B. Polera
